Madison Sankovitz, PhD joined the Xerces Society in 2025 as a science illustration intern and transitioned to the communications team full-time in 2026. In this role, she creates visual content and messaging that support Xerces’ conservation, science, and advocacy work. She collaborates across teams to translate complex scientific information into communications for diverse audiences.
Madison holds a PhD in entomology from UC Riverside and previously worked as a postdoctoral researcher in the Boulder Bee Lab, where her work centered on honey bee ecology and conservation. With a background that bridges scientific research and creative communication, Madison brings an interdisciplinary perspective to storytelling that connects people with invertebrates and the habitats they depend on.
Outside of work, she enjoys creative projects, spending time outdoors in her home state of Colorado, and finding new ways to share the beauty and importance of insects.
