Dedicated Xerces donors since 2014, Chris Burnside and Karl Green of Richmond, Virginia have transformed their grassy lawn into a pollinator oasis that includes more than 100 native plant species.

Passionate about educating and supporting their community they give scheduled tours of their garden, distribute native seedlings, and built a little library house that features free books and brochures on native gardening.

Beyond their demonstration garden, Chris and Karl step-up to address global challenges by giving talks on what people can do to mitigate climate change and advocating against large scale polluters such as the fashion industry. They are doing their part to help spread the word, and all of us at Xerces are grateful to have them as a part of our community.
