Membership & Donor Privacy Policy

By donating to the Xerces Society, you are accepting the policies described in this Privacy Policy. The Xerces Society may revise this policy from time to time. We will post any changes to this page.


Information We Collect

We will collect your name, address, phone and email if given, and your payment/donation history. We take precautions to keep this information secured both in paper form and electronically.


How We Use Your Information

We use this information for purposes such as acknowledging your payments/donations, contacting you with questions, sending you Xerces news and updates, sending you donation requests, and for internal reporting.


Name and Address Sharing

We do not trade, rent, or sell Xerces donor mailing addresses with other businesses or organizations. 

The organization’s executives, employees, and volunteers may have access to donor information in connection with the fulfillment of their duties. The organization has reasonable technical and administrative security measures to protect the security of donor information. Among those measures, as a condition of their work with the organization, all employees are bound by the organization’s employee handbook, which contains strict rules concerning the safeguarding of confidential information, including donor information.


Email Addresses

We ask for your email address in case we have a question about your donation, contact information, or for donor stewardship purposes. We may also send you Xerces e-newsletters to alert you of any Xerces news and updates. We will never trade, rent, or sell your email address to another business or organization. We partner with Constant Contact and Campaign Monitor to send group emails. If you do not want to receive our messages, you can easily unsubscribe directly from the email. Or feel free to call, write, or email us a note explaining your desire to opt out and we will remove your email from the e-newsletter list.
